How accurate is the AI mineral identification?
Our AI identification system is trained on thousands of mineral samples and achieves high accuracy for common minerals. However, for valuable specimens or scientific purposes, we recommend consulting a professional geologist. The AI works best with clear, well-lit photos.
Does the app work offline?
Yes! Your collection, expedition tracking, and local data work completely offline. AI identification requires an internet connection to process photos. Maps are cached for offline use in areas you've previously visited.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings: Open Settings → Tap your name → Tap Subscriptions → Find Rockhound and tap Cancel Subscription.
How do I make my hunts public or private?
All hunts are private by default. To make a hunt public, open the hunt from your collection, scroll to the Visibility section, and toggle on "Public". Public hunts will appear in the Discover tab for other users in your area.
How do I delete my account?
To delete your account and all data: Open the app → Go to Profile → Scroll to the bottom → Tap "Delete Account". This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Why does the app need location access?
Location access enables expedition tracking (GPS route recording), geotagging your finds, and showing nearby public hunts in the Discover tab. You can use the app without location access, but these features will be unavailable.
How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?
